What is a doula?

A doula is trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a birthing person and their partner and family during pregnancy, labor, and shortly after childbirth to help them have a safe, healthy, and empowered birth experience.

HOW I WILL SUPPORT YOU

Whether it’s your first baby or your fifth, and no matter your birth plan, I am here to support you so that you can have a positive birth experience.

During your pregnancy, I am here to provide answers to all of your questions, be a sounding board for any of your fears or concerns, and help you get the information you need to create your birth plan. I will make sure you know what to expect during labor, birth, and the early postpartum period, as well as teach you techniques to reduce stress and help manage your pain during birth. My goal is to lessen any fear or anxiety surrounding birth, so that you’re comfortable and feel empowered to make your birth your own.

I will join you in your labor to be a birth assistant and coach for you and your birth partner. I will be by your side, creating a comforting environment; guiding you through pain-relief, breathing, and relaxation techniques; coaching you both through different laboring positions; facilitating important conversations between you and your provider; and being a constant voice of encouragement through it all. Together, we can make your birth story an empowering one.
